Event Planning Certification Now Part of Organizational Leadership Degree

Graduates from the Organizational Leadership program at Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny, Iowa, will be certified in event planning thanks to a new partnership with Meeting Professionals International (MPI), the largest meeting and event industry association in the world, headquartered in Dallas, Texas.
“Faith Baptist reached out to us with a need for a meaningful, student-centered curriculum for their business program that works to teach students the fundamentals of meetings and events,” said Nancy Snowden, Curriculum and Instructional Design Manager with MPI. “Meetings 101 is a new curriculum from the MPI Academy that will meet that need and help apply the principles of meeting and event planning, design, strategy and management as a larger business tool that is applicable across multiple business and non-profit sectors, and also emphasizes the need for future-ready skills.”
Jared Baldwin, chair of the Organizational Leadership program, says the certification will be a requirement of every student who is majoring in Organizational Leadership. Baldwin’s long-term goal for the program is that students graduate with a number of certifications, making them better prepared for their post-graduate careers and ministry.
“Events are a huge part of both career and ministry,” said Baldwin. “Whether it’s preparing for a summer VBS program, a school or church fundraiser, or a large-scale corporate event, I want every student that goes through the Organizational Leadership program to be certified and confident to manage a well-run, well-organized event.”
