Last year’s Global Reach Conference was held on October 18-22. This year, in light of our 100-year celebration, our conference theme will be “So Great a Cloud of Witnesses.” We will be highlighting the work of our alumni in carrying the Word to the World and challenging our students to carry the work forward.

Ronald Self

Missionary to Argentina

Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. General Session
Thursday, 7:00 p.m. General Session

Ron was born into a Christian family and was trained in the Word of God from an early age. At the age of 8, he understood clearly that he was a sinner and that Jesus Christ had died for his sins and had been resurrected in victory over death. Ron repented of his sin and trusted Christ as his personal Savior.

God called Ron into the ministry at that same age, directing him in the years to come into God’s perfect will for his life, and confirming his call into the ministry. While on a Missionary Apprenticeship Program in Peru, in 1975, God made it clear that He was leading him into a church-planting ministry in South America.  Ron continued his preparation for the ministry, graduating from Faith Baptist Bible College in 1976, and he married Christine in 1977. Ron later earned a Master’s degree from Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary and a Doctorate degree from Bob Jones University in 2013. In 1978, Ron and Christine were accepted as missionaries to Argentina and began their ministry there in 1980. They have had the privilege of participating in the planting of 10 Baptist churches. They have also founded and teach at Besson Bible College in Buenos Aires, preparing future leaders for the church in Argentina. They have three children—Andrew, Susan, and Mark—and four grandchildren.
