GREENVILLE, South Carolina—Faith Athletic Director and Men’s Basketball Coach Brian Fincham was given a prestigious award at the NCCAA Annual Convention on Thursday, June 3, 2021. Coach Fincham was named the Game Plan 4 Life Athletic Staff Character Award winner.

The award is given annually to staff members who exemplify the Christian character qualities of love, integrity, faith, and standards of excellence. Here is the official announcement from the NCCAA:

This year’s Game Plan 4 LIFE Male Athletic Staff Character Award recipient is Brian Fincham from Faith Baptist Bible College (FBBC). Brian serves as Athletic Director and Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Faith Baptist Bible College and has served in other various roles within the athletic department since 2001. Brian is a four-time NCCAA Regional Coach of the Year and in 2019-2020 earned the honor of NCCAA Division II Men’s Basketball National Coach of the Year. His focus as a coach has been having a team that is first a glorifying example of God and then a team that is disciplined on and off the court. He strives to keep the Gospel and faith at the forefront of all he does.

“For Coach Fincham, his standard of excellence is based on 1 Corinthians 10:31, that in all things we do, say, or think is to give glory to God,” stated former FBBC player, Jason Conable. “Coach pushes his players to understand that on the court we have the constant opportunity to show each other, the refs, other players, and spectators a better view of God through our actions and words.”

Brian has served in various leadership roles within the NCCAA throughout the years such as, North Regional Chair, NCCAA National Advisory Committee member, and NCCAA Eligibility Committee member. He similarly has a heart for ministry and serves as the College Ministry Leader at Community Baptist Church.

Director of School Outreach at Faith and former player Noah Kephart stated, “Coach Fincham’s life and coaching philosophy were the deciding factors for me when it came to pursuing coaching. I wanted to have the same impact on others that he had on my life, all through two rims, a ball, and a hardwood floor.”
