Why I Love Eagle Nation

Kalab Singlinger

Through my years at Faith playing basketball, I was challenged not only on the court, but spiritually.

Faith is a great college that has the right emphasis on what is important about sports—honoring the Lord. Through my years at Faith playing basketball, I was challenged not only on the court, but spiritually. It prepared me for my current ministry as a teacher and basketball coach at Ankeny Christian Academy. Also, I still have the truths that I learned through Bible classes and chapel that come to mind as I face different situations in life.

I really appreciate the fact that the sports programs are intent on seeing both physical and spiritual growth.

I really appreciate the fact that the sports programs are intent on seeing both physical and spiritual growth. The coaches and athletic department want to see you grow as an athlete and they want to see you grow in your relationship with Christ. I have had the opportunity to use sports to develop relationships in different countries. One of my favorites was using soccer to create relationships in South Africa during my internship.

My relationship with Christ has grown through being in these programs because of the emphasis that is placed on discipleship between teammates and taking time to reflect on God’s Word before practices and games.

I have loved being a part of the Faith volleyball and track and field programs! One thing that has stuck out to me during my time at Faith has been how our coaches not only push us to develop and become excellent in our sport, but they also remind us to keep Christ central. My relationship with Christ has grown through being in these programs because of the emphasis that is placed on discipleship between teammates and taking time to reflect on God’s Word before practices and games.
