The process of ordination is a significant step in the life and ministry of a pastor. “It is the recognition by a local church, a stamp of approval of sorts, that the candidate has demonstrated the gifting, calling, and soundness of doctrine to be approved as a pastor/elder.” – Dr. Jeriah Shank
Christian Brown and Jason Conable, two Faith alumni, recently became ordained as pastors.
Christian Brown serves as the Associate Pastor at Cambria Baptist Church in Hillsdale, MI. Pastor Brown’s ordination process consisted of 150 questions spanning over 4 hours in length while he was scrutinized by 15 pastors. “After the examination, the council unanimously voted to recommend me for ordination without any reservations. Cambria Baptist Church publicly ordained me to the Gospel ministry on Sunday, November 17, 2024,” Brown recalls. Christian is thankful for his time at Faith Baptist Bible College to help equip him in preparation for the ministry. He states, “I can honestly say that multiple times during my ordination council I answered questions based on something I learned at college. I am happy to recommend students interested in pastoral ministry to Faith Baptist Bible College.”
Jason Conable serves as the Associate Pastor at Slater Baptist Church in Slater, IA. Pastor Conable acknowledges the importance of ordination and also gives credit to Faith in his preparation for ordination. “In preparing for the ordination council, I got to dive deeply into my faith and doctrine. I opened up books that I studied through during my time at Faith and was reminded of the training and preparation I got for this moment as I went through Orals during my senior year at faith…I am profoundly encouraged that I am called to ministry and that my church, family, local pastors and professors agree. I am challenged to continue the ministry and to never give up my desire to know more about God, grow in my love for Him and others, and go to my community with the Gospel.”
One day, two fine young men, two churches, two states, one calling, and one college delighted to claim them. For more information on training for the pastorate, visit https://faith.edu/academics/pastoral-studies/ and for seminary visit https://faith.edu/seminary/ .
