Faith Baptist Bible College is pleased to announce Chris Barnette as the new Head Coach of the Eagles men’s basketball program.
Barnette steps into the role after serving as an assistant coach with the program for three seasons, where he focused on player development, relationships, and Christ-centered competition. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management from Covenant College.
Before moving into coaching, Barnette competed at the collegiate level at Mars Hill University (NCAA Division II), Covenant College (NCAA Division III), and Faith Baptist Bible College (NCCAA Division II). His time at these schools helped develop the competitive mindset and leadership qualities that now shape his approach as a coach. He received multiple all-conference and and all-tournament honors during his time as a basketball athlete as well as reaching the 1,000+ career points mark in his collegiate career.
His experience as both a player and coach at Faith gives him a unique perspective as he invests in the next generation of student-athletes.
“Getting the opportunity to lead this group of young men and build on the momentum from last season is something I’m truly grateful for,” Barnette shared. “We have a strong character, highly competitive group, and there’s a strong foundation that’s been set.”
Barnette is focused on building a program that reflects Faith’s core values of athletic excellence and spiritual growth. His vision extends beyond wins and losses, emphasizing long-term development both on and off the court.
“We’re building something special here— my vision is to create a process-oriented program that consistently competes for national championships, while developing players and coaches who strive to honor Christ in the way we live, prepare, and compete,” he said.
Barnette’s approach highlights a desire to cultivate a disciplined, competitive team while investing deeply in the spiritual lives of his players. His leadership aims to prepare young men not only for success in basketball, but for a lifetime of serving Christ. In doing this, Barnette will build on a strong foundation of Christ-centered competition that former coach Brian Fincham instilled in the program over the last two decades.
Barnette and his wife, Janet, are actively involved in their local church and enjoy investing in the lives of students and athletes alike.
