For nearly 30 years, Mike and Val Show have faithfully served Bible college students, investing their lives in Christian higher education and ministry. For 27 years, they served at Baptist Bible College/Clark Summit University, where Mike served as men’s basketball coach, athletic director, and filled in any additional roles as needed. For the past two years, they continued that ministry of serving students as traveling admissions representatives for Faith Baptist Bible College.
This past summer, the Shows began a new chapter as they joined Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) as Regional Directors. While their ministry setting has changed, their desire to invest in the next generation and point people to Christ remains the same.
Through FCA, Mike and Val will minister to high school and college athletes as well as coaches. They will spend time in weekly Huddle groups, informal discipleship, and intentional one-on-one relationships. Huddles typically include food, games, and a challenge from the Word of God, while follow-up relationships provide opportunities to meet for coffee, share a meal, or spend time together in everyday activities.
They will also partner with local churches, helping connect athletes and coaches with a local church after they trust Christ as Savior.
Mike sees tremendous eternal potential in this ministry: “The three main objectives of FCA is to engage with the gospel, equip with the Bible and empower [them] to go make disciples. I believe the execution of this has an eternal impact.”
Though the Shows are beginning something new, their years of ministry have prepared them well for this next step. From coaching and leading college athletics to traveling on behalf of Faith, they have spent decades building relationships, encouraging young people, and pointing others toward Christ.
Faith is grateful for the opportunity to have had Mike and Val as part of the FBBC team for the past two years and for the years of faithful service they have given to Bible college ministry. As they begin this new chapter with FCA, we invite the Faith family and friends of the Shows to continue praying for and supporting them as they seek to engage, equip, and empower the next generation for Christ.
