Facility Manager

The facility manager will assist the maintenance director in providing a functional, comfortable, well maintained, clean, and safe environment for students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  •  Must be able to oversee the department when the director is on vacation or ill.
  •  Needs to have a good work ethic. Demonstrate an ability to work without supervision,
    but also willing to complete assigned tasks as directed.
  • It may involve completing tasks that are unpleasant and would be considered “low skill” or “unskilled” labor. (Example: moving furniture, cleaning vehicles, digging ditches, unclogging drains, plunging toilets, etc.)
  • Generally involves daytime hours Monday-Friday, but availability for after-hours
    emergencies.
  •  Willingness to be on call on the weekends with occasional early morning or late night
    snow removal.

Supervisory Responsibilities

May supervise student workers, summer workers or volunteer work groups.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Preferably have experience in basic carpentry, drywall, flooring, painting, electrical, plumbing and HVAC.
  • Preferably know automotive maintenance, lawn care, landscaping, and snow removal.
  • Experience driving a tractor, zero turn mower, skid loader, or other equipment is helpful.
  • Requires people skills when working with and for other school employees and students.
  • Requires patience, kindness and a servant-hearted spirit.
  • Requires ability to stand or work for a significant portion of an 8-hour shift.
  • Must have ability to bend, lift heavy objects, unafraid to climb ladders and otherwise perform physical duties.

Academic Qualifications

  • High School diploma
  • Community college maintenance certification is helpful, but not required.
