Faith Baptist Bible College is pleased to announce the hiring of Dr. Lynn McCool as the Director of Digital Education, a position established and enhanced by Dr. Ken Rathbun and Charlie Carter over the last two years. Dr. McCool brings her noteworthy academic experience and credentials to this vital role within the college.

Dr. McCool has nearly 40 years of teaching experience in high school and college settings. Most recently, from 2016 to 2023, she was Assistant Professor of Business Communication and Writing Program Administrator in the Zimpleman College of Business at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. In addition to her work at Drake, Dr. McCool has also served at Faith as Adjunct Professor of Communication since 2012. In that role, she has regularly taught courses such as Media in Ministry, Writing for Publications, Creative Writing, and Advanced Writing as part of Faith’s communications minor, a minor she designed in 2016. Dr. McCool also has college-level teaching experience at Iowa State University, Cedarville University, and Patrick Henry College.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Education from Cedarville University. She also holds graduate degrees from Iowa State University, having earned an M.A. in Rhetoric, Composition, and Professional Communication and a Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Professional Communication. In addition to these degrees, Dr. McCool has completed several certifications. Among them are two that will directly relate to her new role. She is certified in teaching online and in Canvas basics, the college’s learning management system. Dr. McCool is also a scholar in her field. She has published in several refereed journals and presented papers at academic conferences across the country.

All of these academic achievements, however, take a back seat to Dr. McCool’s family life. She recently celebrated 39 years of marriage to her husband Dan, whom she met in her senior year of high school at Grandview Park Baptist School. The two eventually ended up at Cedarville. They graduated in June of 1984 and were married in August of that same year. They have four married children and eight grandchildren, and they look forward to welcoming another granddaughter in October.

Dr. McCool enjoys reading, crafting, writing, and traveling in the States and abroad. Her go-to destination is the Tennessee Smoky Mountains. What she really enjoys, though, is using her gifts and talents to serve the Lord in higher education. “I am very excited about my new role at Faith because as the director of digital education, I will be able to use my strengths of vision-casting, organizational strategies, and communication skills to serve the college, my colleagues, and Faith’s students,” Dr. McCool said. “Ultimately, I’m excited to join the Lord’s work at Faith and be a part of what He has called us to do.”

Dr. McCool officially started her new role on August 7.
