July 6, 2022

Beginning fall 2022, the Faith Music Academy will add a new feature to its growing program with the launch of the Faith Music Academy Chorus.  The choir is open to students from second through fifth grades and will begin September 6, 2022.

Mrs. Sherri Nicholson, program director, hopes the program will provide the community with a new option for in-person learning with teaching that focuses on quality sacred, folk, and classical music. Rehearsals are scheduled for Tuesdays at 6:45 p.m. (weekly) and will be held in the Nettleton Center on the campus of Faith Baptist Bible College at 1900 NW Fourth Street in Ankeny, Iowa.

Students will be divided into two age groups (Dolce Singers and Bel Canto Singers) and will prepare for two concert performances: one at Christmas time and one in the spring. The Dolce Singers will consist of second and third grade students. The Bel Canto Singers will be comprised of fourth and fifth graders. Classes will be taught by Mr. Jason Nicholson, a music teacher at South Union Elementary School in Des Moines.

The Faith Music Academy began in August 2020 and is completing its second year. The mission of the Academy is to develop musicians of all ages within a Biblical worldview. The Faith Music Academy offers teaching in piano, violin, flute, and voice. Registration is open for 2022-23 to all in the Ankeny community and surrounding areas.
