Carleigh Smith is from Naples, Florida, and lived in Northeast Pennsylvania for a number of years, where she was on the faculty at Clarks Summit University and taught composition and literature. She holds a Master of Arts in Literature from Clarks Summit University as well, and her academic interest areas are American Literature, composition pedagogy, and how Christianity influences secular writers.
Carleigh is currently teaching exceptional student education at a classical charter school in Florida. She has always enjoyed having a plan in place for the future, but she frequently finds that God had unexpected plans for her, and she rests in the fact that His direction is always best. Carleigh is thankful for the Lord’s grace that covers her life and seeks to continually trust His guidance. In her teaching career, her foremost priority is to remember that wisdom comes from a knowledge and fear of the Lord and to teach her students from the wisdom He grants her (Ecclesiasties 12:11).
“I’m excited for the opportunity to work at Faith because of how the college embraces truly biblical integration,” shared Carleigh. “It is exciting to see how joining academic study and personal growth in Christ creates genuine change in students’ lives as they prepare to serve Him in various disciplines.” She loves teaching English because it helps believers think Scripturally and carefully about all facets of creation, particularly how language conveys truth, and understand more richly the beautiful truths given by God’s Word.
Carleigh had a professor in her undergraduate studies who was a faculty member at Faith and valued her teaching. She also has been gifted with edifying Christian mentors and desires to offer that same encouragement to her students. “My desire for them is that they will honor God by communicating truth with wisdom, clarity, and love.”
