Our fall sports teams just wrapped up another great semester of competition with 75 athletes competing on four different teams throughout the semester.
Cross Country stole the show, setting records, qualifying for Nationals, and improving times all throughout the season. In 8 races, the runners saw 14 PR’s, 2 team nationals qualifications, 6 individual nationals qualifiers, 2 student-athlete of the week honors, multiple top five individual/team finishes, and 1 school record set by Carlie Blevins in her first career 6K. The Eagles placed 4 runners on the scholar-athlete list, and 2 ran their way to All-American status at the NCCAA National Championship meet.
Men’s Soccer competed well, although their team looked vastly different from the 2023 season. 22 of the 25 players on the team were either freshmen or sophomores, while the Eagles returned 14 players from their 2023 Conference Championship team. Of their 7 wins, the Eagles shutout 5 opponents highlighted by an exciting 12-0 win over Trinity, where 3 players recorded hat tricks in the same game. The Eagles landed 4 on the scholar-athlete list, while 8 were named to the All-Conference and All-Region teams. Men’s Soccer graduates 3 seniors who have had an immense impact on the program in their time here.
Women’s Soccer posted a season record of 11-5-1, their first ten win season since 2019. The Eagles won 6 of their 8 NCCAA matches, highlighted by two dominant performances against Maranatha. 7 Eagles earned scholar-athlete honors, 6 were named to the All-North Region team, and 2 were recognized at the national level with All-American honors. Abigail Speichinger was named the Game Plan 4 LIFE award winner for all of DII women’s soccer, an award given each year to a student-athlete who is not only good at their sport, but demonstrates high character, service, and a deep love for Christ. This is considered one of the highest honors given to student-athletes in the NCCAA. Women’s Soccer graduates 6 seniors, who will be deeply missed in 2025.
The Volleyball team returned a core group of 5 seniors along with several main contributors from the 2023 season, and carried their success into the new season. The Eagles went 5-3 in MCCC matches, and finished as runners-up at the Conference Tournament. They made the NCCAA National tournament for the 3rd time in 4 years as they swept Crown for the back-to-back North Region championship. 3 Eagles earned scholar-athlete honors, and 7 were named to the All-Conference and All-Region teams.
While we celebrate each athletic/academic accomplishment achieved, we’re even more excited to have a group of 75 student-athletes who put Christ first and sought to point others towards him every day as they competed this Fall season.
