Financial Aid & Scholarships
The process of applying for financial aid and scholarships can be daunting.
At Faith, we’ve tried to make the process as simple as possible.
2. FAFSA
This determines your eligibility for state and federal grants and loans. For students in Iowa, the deadline is July 1. Be sure to enter Faith’s school code (007121).
4. Submit Test Scores
To help us more accurately award scholarships and financial aid, you can opt to submit your ACT, SAT, or CLT scores. Submit your scores directly to the Admissions Office.

Financial Aid Options
Federal Pell Grant
Pell Grants are often the first resource for college students. These grants are determined by completing your FAFSA. A Pell Grant currently offers students up to $7,395, based on a student’s financial eligibility.
State Aid
Residents of Iowa have the opportunity to receive thousands of dollars in grants and scholarships from the state. For more information about merit and need-based college financial aid, visit the Iowa Department of Education website.

Federal/Direct Loans
Federal/Direct loans enable students to obtain a low-interest deferred-payment option with the Department of Education. There are two types of Direct Loans: subsidized and unsubsidized. You must have financial need to receive a subsidized Direct Loan. The U.S. Department of Education will pay (subsidize) the interest that accrues on a subsidized Direct Loan while you are in school. For an unsubsidized Direct Loan, financial need is not a requirement. You are responsible for paying the interest that accrues on unsubsidized Direct Loans.
Students must complete the FAFSA and be enrolled at least six credit hours to be eligible for federal loans. Repayment begins six months after the student withdraws, graduates, or drops below six credit hours.

Private Loans
Faith Baptist Bible College does not provide a preferred lender or a historical lender list. We encourage students to take advantage of all sources of federal, state, and institutional aid, before turning to private student loans. A private student loan may also be referred to as an alternative student loan.
In the event that additional aid is needed beyond what federal, state, or institutional aid can provide, alternative student loans are available to students. Choosing a lender is an important financial decision. We encourage students to extensively research their private loan lending options to identify the lender whose terms and conditions best meet their needs.
Faith does not endorse any specific lender. Students complete an application directly with the lender of their choice; the application may be subject to credit approval. If you choose to take out an alternative student loan, please notify the Financial Aid Office.
VA Education Benefits
Your GI Bill® and other VA Education Benefits, for you or your spouse or dependent(s), can be used with all of Faith’s degree programs. To learn about eligibility for these benefits, please visit va.gov. A veteran or service member (or the spouse of a member if the member has a dependent child) with financial education benefits should notify the Financial Aid Office and provide a copy of their certificate of eligibility (COE) form. In addition, the student must present evidence of eligibility before certification of benefits can be completed.
Iowa National Guard Service Scholarship
This scholarship provides annual awards to Iowa National Guard members pursuing an undergraduate degree. This award is a percentage of the resident tuition for full-time students at Iowa Regent Universities.
Private and Community Organizations
Consult your high school counselors for information about private scholarships or community-specific educational funds. Many different scholarship search tools are available online.
Special Cases
Financial aid regulations authorize financial aid staff to use “professional judgment” on a case-by-case basis if supported by the proper documentation. More information is provided below. Please contact the Financial Aid Office for any questions or forms needed.
Special Circumstances
When data that is required to be reported on the FAFSA does not accurately portray a family’s current financial situation, students can submit a special circumstances request, including proper documentation. Common examples that might warrant this request include unusual medical expenses not covered by insurance, death, separation/divorce, loss of benefits or support, loss of employment, reduction in income, or additional family members enrolled in college. This is not an exhaustive list.
Unusual Circumstances/Dependency Override
A student is considered a dependent student and requires parental information on the FAFSA until he is 24 years old, married, or a veteran. When a student is unable to contact a parent contributor or when contact with parents poses a risk to a student, a dependency override may be warranted. Other situations could include when a student is a victim of human trafficking, legally granted refugee or asylum status, parental abandonment or estrangement, or incarceration. It does not include situations when a parent refuses to complete the FAFSA, contribute to the student’s education, parents not claiming the student as dependent for income tax purposes, or that the student is totally self-sufficient. If the student indicates unusual circumstances on his FAFSA, the Financial Aid Office will contact the student to request official supporting documentation and will strive to make a determination as quickly as possible, but no later than 60 days after the student enrolls.
Scholarships
Many institutional scholarships are four-year awards so you can plan ahead. You automatically apply to most Faith scholarships during your scholarship interview.
Institutional Scholarships
All institutional scholarships are for all the years you attend Faith, so you can plan ahead. You automatically apply for these by completing your scholarship interview. You will be given one of these scholarships as your institutional aid.
Academic Excellence Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded based on your scholarship interview. A minimum ACT score of 24 is required for an academic scholarship. Scores must be received before July 1.
Centennial Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded based on your scholarship interview. A scholarship based upon need, having parents or grandparents who attended FBBC, or an openness to pursuing full-time ministry.
Faith Financial Assistance Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded based on your scholarship interview. To be considered for need-based funds, FAFSA information is required.
Leadership Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded based on your scholarship interview. It will be awarded based on prior achievements, local church involvement, and leadership potential.
Christian Worker’s Grant
This need-based grant is available to students who are dependents of full-time Christian workers. Students must not already be receiving free tuition and must be enrolled full-time. Recipients must live on campus, evidence proven Christian character and conduct, and meet all other eligibility requirements. You can receive $1,500 for the year. Great Scripture Memory Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to students who quote perfectly one of the designated portions of Scripture and meet all other eligibility requirements. The student may receive $500 for one passage per semester as long as scholarship funds are available. Learn how to apply here.
Returning Student Scholarships, Endowments, and Aid
In addition to a student’s main institutional aid, returning students may apply for extra aid in the form of an endowment scholarship. Each year, Faith awards more than $190,000 in endowment scholarships to be used in the following school year. Educators Scholarship

This scholarship awards up to $1,500 to eligible students entering the Teacher Education program who worked as a teacher’s aide during their junior and/or senior year(s) of high school. For more information, visit the Educators Scholarship page.
Joshua Scholarship
*First-year only
This scholarship is designed to help like-minded camps reward the future leaders among their full-time summer staff—while making it as affordable as possible for those staff members to attend FBBC. The Joshua Scholarship is a $1,500 scholarship that camp leaders award to deserving full-time summer staff who are juniors or seniors in high school and above.
