After nearly 50 years of teaching, Dr. Myron Houghton will be retiring at the end of the 2018-19 school year. Dr. Houghton began his teaching ministry in 1971 at Denver Baptist Bible College as head of the Theology Department.

In 1983, he began teaching at Faith Baptist Bible College and was named the head of Master of Arts in theological studies. Once the seminary opened in 1986, Dr. Myron became chairman of the Theology Department and has been the only person to serve in that position during the seminary’s 32-year history. At the conclusion of Dr. Myron’s retirement, his teaching ministry will have spanned 48 years.

“My favorite memories include thinking that it has been my incredible privilege to teach those who have become missionaries, pastors and numerous other Christian leaders,” said Dr. Myron. “I do not know how long I will live once I retire, but I plan to continue teaching a weekly Bible study as long as the Lord gives me the strength. Perhaps writing will be part of my retirement ministry.”

Upon Dr. Houghton’s retirement, Dr. Paul Hartog will be assuming the role in which Dr. Houghton faithfully served for 32 years.

Dr. Hartog is currently a professor of Bible, Theology, and Humanities, and is also the Director of Library Services at Faith. He has been a faculty member at Faith since 2001 and was the Vice President for Academic Services, and Dean of the college from 2013-2015.
