“Growth” was the theme of this year’s Business Leadership Summit, hosted by Faith Baptist Bible College on Thursday, October 17, and Friday, October 18, in Ankeny, Iowa.

Dozens of Christian business leaders from across the United States gathered for the conference, which emphasized biblical principles for growth—both professionally and spiritually.

Business leaders arrived Thursday afternoon onto Faith’s campus and enjoyed a banquet-style meal and fellowship before the opening session about how to manage success in business, led by Dr. Jim Tillotson. A case study session that discussed common problems in business concluded the evening.

Friday featured a full day of general sessions and breakout sessions, as well as a panel discussion with three of the speakers about how a company changes as it grows. A heavy emphasis was placed on company culture throughout the event, including how to manage expenses through culture, how to protect company culture, and how to relate to employees of other cultures. Other breakout session topics included hiring, motivating sales teams, partnerships, funding growth, common mistakes in start-ups, and keeping up with industry trends.

Each speaker stressed biblical principles associated with their assigned topics, as well as the importance of staying involved in local church ministry, and maintaining a proper priority of God, family, and career (in that order).

This year, students of Faith’s new Organizational Leadership program were also able to sit in on the sessions, network with attendees, and learn valuable insights from accomplished business leaders from around the country.

Next year’s Business Leadership Summit is scheduled for October 16, 2020.
