Inaugural Music Camp Finishes On A Forte

Faith’s inaugural Music Camp marched to a successful finish on Wednesday, featuring a live mini-concert in front of a large audience in the Nettleton Center.

Family members, friends, and Faith faculty and staff enjoyed nearly a full hour of choir and orchestra ensembles, trios, duets, and solos from camp participants as they implemented some of the new skills they learned during Music Camp.  The concert was a terrific display of God-given talent and a strong testament to the efforts of the Faith faculty to the work that was accomplished in a very short time frame.

Musicians spent the majority of their week learning music theory, practice and performance techniques, and handbells, with plenty of time in the evenings for fun and games.

Ankeny Centennial freshman Mayah Gorsh said the week was equal parts fun and educational.  “I especially liked watching how a group of people who had mostly never met before this week got to know each other and developed great comradery,” said Gorsh.  “It was really fun getting to know new people.”

Gorsh was also a great example of how Music Camp can build confidence in young musicians and provide opportunities for them to go out of their comfort zones as she successfully performed her first-ever solo at the concert on Wednesday.

Music Camp concluded a busy three-week stretch at Faith, which began with Sports Camp, followed by Jump Start classes in the second week.  If you missed out on one of our exciting camps this summer, you can already begin planning for next year’s events, listed below (subject to change).
